DIW’s vision - after having successfully completed the four phases mentioned
earlier and based on the funds available - is to eventually encompass the
medical world as well, by safekeeping, confirming and updating medicalrelated
records. We greatly feel the necessity of keeping our feet on the ground
due to the magnitude and level of difficulty associated with this huge aspect of
our project. Hence why it’s mentioned as ‘a vision’ within our project.
Functionality and implementation:

EHR will only be accessible by the patient via the DIW platform. The patient
(DIW Account Holder) will be able to fully control who sees their EHR and
which parts of it. This includes providing EHR access to hospitals, laboratories,
pharmacists, doctors or other healthcare professionals.
For the development of the module, DIW will approach healthcare professionals
and receive their assistance in order to lay down the foundation upon which
sensitive, personal, health-related EHR may be transferred between parties
in the most efficient and trustworthy manner. The free, “collect on delivery”
option, would be a good solution here as the patient could receive their healthrelated
documentation from the DIW-participating healthcare professional and
pay in any currency. Alternative, patients could just request the healthcare
professional to simply send the updated EHR.
In emergency situations, medical personnel will be able to access medical
EHR that the patient had previously predefined and made available for such
occasions. Such access will be granted to approved registered medical
organizations, health-care professionals and assigned family members or
close friends that are DIW holders. This will prove to be life-saving for many
individuals as it will safeguard that the patient will be treaded correctly and
swiftly based on immediately available as well as accurate EHR.
DIW holders may also allow the secure access of their personal EHR to their
insurance provider, in order to benefit by lower rate insurance premiums as
this would ensure absolute transparency in regards to the DIW holder’s actual
health condition.
DIW holders will be provided with the opportunity to provide access to their
EHR to third party developers should they elect to. This will help R&D efforts
towards the further optimisation of the DIW network as well as to medical
science in general, as this will lead to the development of specialized add-ons,
apps, software and wearables that would be greatly beneficial to the general
public’s health.
We expect research centres to request access to DIW holders’ EHR, by
rewarding them with DIW tokens. Granting such access will help scientific
organizations with future studies and ensure improvements within the medical
field. Utilizing the ‘smart contract’ technology implemented by DIW, holders
will be able to assign which EHR they are permitting access to and what the
access duration will be.
